William S. Campbell, MBA, CFP®


Bill is the President of Slayton Lewis and a thirty-five-year veteran of the financial services industry.

He is an active member of the Hyde Park Angels (HPA), an Angel investor organization that is associated with the University of Chicago. Bill has mentored several start-up entrepreneurs, co-chaired the Business/Financial Ambassador Circle of HPA, and was an executive in residence at the U of Chicago.

Bill graduated with honors from Westminster College in Salt Lake City with a BS in Economics and received an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is a Certified Financial Planner and has developed, syndicated, and consulted on a myriad of commercial real estate projects in the western United States. He has been a featured speaker at many venues, including financial and tax strategy presentations. He is past chair of the Westminster College Alumni Board as well as an adjunct faculty member. He currently serves on the board of the Chicago Metropolitan YWCA.

In an earlier life, he was a radio announcer, an actor, and stand-up comedian.

Caroline Cain

Operations Manager

Caroline is the Operations Manager at Slayton Lewis and provides administrative services for the firm, along with solving client problems.

After receiving a B.F.A from the University of Utah, she worked as an Associate Producer and Stage Manager at The Grand Theatre in Salt Lake City. She initially worked part-time at Slayton Lewis to help with various administrative and operational tasks and quickly developed into a vital member of the team and has been with us full-time ever since.

Caroline’s attention to detail and organizational skills required to be a stage manager make her shine in the world of wealth management. She has developed and documented operational workflows, ensuring that critical tasks are never overlooked. She is meticulous in prepping reports for meetings and always goes the extra mile to make our clients’ lives easier.

Doni Nicholas, RP®, CRPS®, AIF®

Senior Client Service Administrator

Doni is a Senior Client Service Administrator and is the operational lead for our institutional retirement plan business.

Her educational background in Economics and Psychology and diverse work experience prior to Slayton Lewis enable her to tackle a range of complex client issues. After joining the firm, Doni became a Registered Paraplanner (RP®), an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®), and obtained her Chartered Retirement Plan Specialist designation (RPS®).

She is the longest-tenured employee of Slayton Lewis, with almost 20 years at the company. Her many years of working with our clients and her knowledge of our technology systems allow her to rapidly and effectively solve any issues that arise. She is an expert on the operations of the retirement plan business, which eases the burden on the plan administrators and trustees, making her an invaluable resource.

Joseph Patrick F. Amponin, CPA/PFS, JD, LLM

Chief Tax Officer

Pat is the Chief Tax Officer at Slayton Lewis. His main responsibilities include handling all aspects of tax planning and compliance for individuals and businesses. As a Personal Financial Specialist, he also supports all other areas of wealth management.

Pat has over 20 years of experience working at one of the Big 4 accounting firms specializing in individual income tax and global payroll for executives and expatriates that include Fortune 100 employees. Pat is a licensed CPA and received a law degree, a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in employee benefits, and a Master's in Accounting degree during his time with the Big Four. 

Pat prides himself on taking a hands-on approach. If you ask him a tax question, he will provide the answer – on the spot in most instances.  Pat joined Slayton Lewis in 2019 and enjoys that he can continue doing what he loves – providing a hands-on tax experience to all our clients.

Nick Augostini, CFA, CFP®

Chief Investment Officer/Portfolio Manager

Nick is the Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager at Slayton Lewis. He is responsible for the firm’s investment strategy and ensuring our client portfolios are thoughtfully designed, implemented, and reviewed.

He was drawn to the wealth management space while studying Financial Economics at the University of Rochester and working alongside various investment advisors. He quickly knew he wanted to make a career out of helping people manage their financial lives but wanted to enhance his research and investment acumen before taking on such a critical role in someone’s future.

Rather than jumping right into the profession after graduation, Nick went to work at Morningstar, where he was an equity analyst in the Investment Management group while also completing the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program. After a few years of learning the fundamentals of investment research and portfolio management, he wanted to work closer with individual investors and expand his skill set further into personal finance. He joined Slayton Lewis in 2020 and became a Certified Financial Planner® shortly after.
